Northwestern University McCormick School of Engineering

Whole-Brain Engineering™

Teaching students to think with both sides of their brain—to frame a problem correctly, solve it collaboratively, and communicate it effectively—to have an impact with what they make and how they think. This is whole-brain engineering.

One of the first projects in our long partnership with McCormick School of Engineering was their student viewbook. McCormick wanted a radical departure from its previous admissions communications. We helped McCormick communicate key messages clearly, concisely, and at the right pitch for prospective students. The text is warm and conversational based on what we heard students, faculty, alums, and others affiliated with the program say about it. Visuals are energetic but informative and consistently inconsistent to evoke the diversity of people and the range of opportunities for collaboration at McCormick and Northwestern.

Client Success
The viewbook received documented praise from inside and outside the school—from alumni, students, faculty, and prospective students. One college admissions counselor called it an “outstanding tool for helping students understand the advantages of an engineering degree” and requested additional copies. It was also used to support development efforts.
