Marilyn: Intimate Exposures, Susan Bernard

GG_Marilyn_Mockup_Cover_WH2.jpg

Bruno Bernard, better known as Bernard of Hollywood, produced the “iconic photograph of Marilyn standing over the subway grate in the billowing white dress.“ Susan Bernard’s book tells her dad’s story through his legendary photographs, personal notes, and journal entries covering key moments in Marilyn Monroe’s life—from her first professional sitting with Bernard of Hollywood in 1946 to Bruno’s obsession with and conclusions about her death.

The design of the book mimics the contrast in the content—elegant type and glamorous photography countered by stark areas of black and unembellished artifacts including contact sheets, candid photos, letters, news coverage, and Bruno’s handwritten notations.
