Co-curated, conceptualized, and designed by Maria Grillo and Bob Faust, this exhibition celebrates the work of our college professor, mentor, and dear friend Ken Carls. “Ken Carls. Public Designer. Private Artist.” weaves together Ken’s drawings, collages, painting, photography, writing, and design in a series of stories, both verbal and visual. The result is a highly personal and sometimes unexpected biography. The range of Ken’s talent is expressed in the use of every extremity the gallery space offers. The show gives the viewer a sense of the depth of Ken’s personality and multiple ways to discover it.

Client Success

In the Ken Carls. Public Designer. Private Artist. exhibition, Maria’s proficiency as a storyteller effectively shaped a narrative that not only illuminated the inner workings of my design mind, but maybe more importantly, also of the lesser-known hinterlands of my artistic thought process. Her skillful approach uncovered what had theretofore been hidden, teasing out insights into my own work that sometimes surprised even me.
